Board games! Thursdays and Saturdays!

Hey everybody, we just had another super successful board game night yesterday (Thursday)! So i thought i'd post some pics.

The first game was Long Shot...yeah that's right it's a game about horse racing!



And for those of you that don't know what the deal is: Every Thursday we have board game night, and all you have to do is come in and play some board games! it's that simple. We have games at the store you can try or your welcome to bring your own to play. There is no charge for board game night (although we do ask if you happen to need any board games if you could so kindly purchase them from us) and all you have to do is show up!

As an added bonus we're opening every Saturday in the month of August to board gamers so come on out!

Board game - Power Grid!

Here we go with another great game from Z-man games! Power Grid! Considered the 3rd best game EVER according to boardgamegeek.com

This is yet another venture into the modern board game. The premise is simple, you must supply the most cities with power...think monopoly but now your a power mogul instead of real estate. What makes power grid cool is it's application to being pretty realistic. Players purchase power plants via auction, so whoever is willing to pay the most will win the bids but by buying power plants you reveal newer more efficient power plants, so you must constantly strive to be efficient. You then must purchase raw materials (represented by various coloured blocks) to create power for these plants and as materials become more in demand the prices grow!


The brown wooden block represents Coal, and in this example this power plant can power 4 houses by burning only 1 coal!


While it may look complicated it is actually fairly simple. You can play with 2-6 players and the average game is about 2 hours. I highly recommend this game!

Wasabi!

Hey all, didn't get a chance to get in a game of Android, so i'll save that review for another time...so i thought i'd talk about a fun and easy game we just got back instock called Wasabi!!


As you can guess it's a sushi themed game! The concept is fairly simple that allows almost anyone to get in on the fun. You play chefs trying to complete their quota of sushi recepies, to do this you simply lay down tiles that are drawn from the pantry and arrange them to create your dishes...complete the recipes with style and receive bonus points or special tactics that allow you to rearrange and disrupt your opponents carefully placed tiles. You may not have the time to setup these stylish moves so it's a balance between technique and speed! The game ends when the board is full and points are totaled up!
